Not having one myself, I can't say for sure--but I can't imagine a Stand so independent as to think completely separately from its user.
Star once texted me to get me to give him pudding without Jotaro realizing it. I don't really understand the range of things he can do without direct input; for as long as I can remember Hierophant's never done anything even close to that extent. So it's difficult for me to comprehend, but there must be some correlation between a Stand's action and its user's desires.
