Why do you go by "Kakyoin Noriaki" rather than "Kakyoin Tenmei"?
It's fine. This is the second time something like that's happened to me in this city, so I don't mind explaining it.
My name is written 典明--it can be read as 'Tenmei' or 'Noriaki'. The former is the name my parents gave me, and I changed it when I was a little older than that for a few different reasons.
I don't particularly care for my real name all that much, that's the simplest way to explain it.
No, the meaning is still the same. It's written with the kanji for 'scripture' and 'bright' regardless. I always thought that the meaning itself was fitting, considering Hierophant.
Well. If you weren't aware, I suppose I should tell you. "Pannacotta" is a type of pudding. Knowing the meaning, I think my reasons for disliking it should be fairly self-explanatory.
As for my surname, I'm estranged from my family and have no interest in reconciliation. "Fugo" is much better than Pannacotta, or Panni, or whatever stupid nickname people come up with it, but it's sometimes grating to be connected to them in such a visible, personal way.
I appreciate your tact. Unsurprisingly, when most people find out, they like to give me shit for it. The older I get, the less patient I become with the entire process.
The last thing my grandfather ever had to say about me is that he "didn't have" a grandson named Pannacotta. And when the police looked into it, that might as well have been true as far as the law was concerned. When he cut ties with me, he didn't sever all legal responsibilities to me as my guardian; rather, he used his money and political influence to make it look like they never existed to begin with.
He wanted me to disappear. I refuse to give him the satisfaction.
Funny. From where I stand, I think there's something to be said about having the courage and strength of heart to change something about yourself that you don't like. It's not an easy task.
