I suppose I'm just not used to see Stands being used so casually. It's very different within Passione.

[Sort of. It's not so different than Mista and the Pistols, but they're the Pistols. They're an exception to the usual rules.]

You must have to keep things like that fairly quiet, given what I assume to be the general nature of Passione's situation. [i mean. mafia.] Hierophant and I are a little different to start with, and I think most of us have more or less decided there's not much point to secrecy when no one's out to kill us.

Yes. Most Stand users I know are very zealous about keeping their abilities a secret. It makes surviving confrontations a little easier.

That's definitely something different. Though I've noticed the majority of Stands I've encountered tend to be close-range. I wonder if that's just the more common type, or if it's some odd coincidence.

Does he have some level of independence like Pistols or Spice Girl? I'm not asking to interrogate you, I'm just curious.

I'm not sure why either. But it's probably because I don't have a wide enough pool of data to examine.

Yes, of a sorts. I don't control him so much as he's directed by what I'm feeling. He has certain preferences and has his own interpretations of what I want him to do, but he's nowhere near as intelligent as Spice Girl or the Pistols.

I'm not sure that I do either. Maybe we could compare the ones we know about at some point and see if we can determine anything from that.

So he's more on the level of Star Platinum, then. [If there was a point at which Kakyoin could have been stopped before going full-tilt Stand Nerdery, it was right there. And went sailing past before anyone could apply the brakes.]

It seems to me as though there are three main types of independence in Stands, with some falling on points in between. What you just described seems to be the middle ground, and the one that also seems most common. On one end of the scale would be Stands practically with their own will like Mista's and Trish's. On the other, less autonomous ones like my Hierophant. I suppose now that I examine that, it does make reasonable sense for most to fall in the center on average.

More information is always a good starting point. If you don't mind waiting a while, after I'm done writing a report for Giorno I can put together a brief on the Stands I've encountered.

Why are you apologizing? None of what you described was irrelevant. On the contrary, it's a very interesting subject.

Passione has an odd mix. I believe less autonomous Stands are the norm, but independent Stands are more common than you'd think. I've worked with an informant whose Stand was splintered into 52 separate individuals-- ah, but, Murolo's All Along the Watchtower was very unusual, even for an independent Stand.

I'm afraid I'm not and it's exactly as aggravating to deal with as you might imagine. It possesses playing cards, which can then scatter to collect information. They like to present it as a sort of fortune telling show. Although I think that's more of a reflection of the user's personality. Murolo has a certain flair for the dramatic.

Dramatic or not, that's certainly...'efficient' may not be the right word, but I can imagine how it would be useful. Though if it does reflect the user's demeanor, I would guess Murolo must be difficult to tolerate.

Either way, that's actually not the first Stand I've heard of that involved a deck of cards. The D'arby brothers had a pair with the ability to take souls wagered on games; I wasn't around when the elder brother was dealt with, but apparently he tended towards poker as his game of choice.

Well, they sound like pleasant people. [... don't be rude, Fugo.] But that's very intriguing. Two brothers with Stands that share an ability. Did they transmute souls into physical objects? Or were they contained within the Stands?

They used physical objects. I believe I was told the elder brother kept souls in the form of poker chips, while the younger- [eesh] opted to make rather unsettling dolls of his victims to keep them in.

Because that's not coming on strong at all with the soul-stealing motif. The dolls, I mean. The elder seems to have been aiming for a theme with the poker. It's slightly less tacky.

[But only slightly. Stolen soul collections are just kind of tacky, no matter how you display them.]

'Tacky' is a moderate understatement. I'm not sure what an adequate summation of it would be, but I imagine it would involve the term 'stalker' and the heavy insinuation that the younger should have sought professional help.
