It's the best way to make friends when you're at a party and you don't know anybody! You shout look what I can do, and everyone does, and then they're impressed, and then suddenly you've got like ten more people who want to talk to you!
But if you're at that kind of party-- like, where everybody's buzzed, and it's all sex and drugs and alcohol, and there's a lot of music, the kind you feel in your chest-- then yeah, that's pretty much it. I mean, I don't know if I'd say that's how you make friends, but it's a way to be-- I don't know, social? in that kind of situation, where somebody isn't going to just approach you.
[Not that Polnareff ever actually went to a French university. But he'd had friends who had, and he got invited along, and knew: the best parties were the ones that took place in a Greek house.
Huh.]
Well, keep an eye out, even if you don't go, so I can know.I wonder what they do for parties . . .

Look, when you get to university and go to a frat party, you'll see.
[When, and it's deliberate, though he keeps the sentence light. And just in case--]
Do they have fraternities in Japan?
