Then put your arms around my neck. So you can feel where I am, that I've got you. Arms around my neck, and look at me...and count backwards from five. When you reach two...close your eyes.
[He leans forward, brushing a kiss against Kakyoin's temple in what he hopes is a soothing way.]
[He put his arms back around Jotaro's neck, answering with another light kiss before silently counting--five, four...]
[Kakyoin was nervous, somewhere in the back of his mind, but that was the point of this. He asked to see it so that this power could be something a little less deeply terrifying. So that if he saw things just change and move, he wouldn't want to instinctively recoil or lash out in panicked self-defense.]
[It wasn't just Dio's power. It never would be again.]
[-three, two...taking a deep breath and bracing himself, Kakyoin closed his eyes.]
[He waits one beat beyond the moment when he sees Kakyoin's eyes fall closed, and when that one beat has passed, a silent command to Star Platinum stops time in its tracks.
That gives him five seconds, now. He hadn't said where they were going because frankly, he doesn't really know; he hasn't decided, hasn't thought this out much further beyond little flashes of impulse. Maybe he should've, because the sight of Kakyoin's face frozen in time is...it's enough to make a lump well up in his throat. Some things, he's sure, will never go away. Understanding that every time he looks at his boyfriend's face while time is standing still, he's seeing what Dio saw in the moment before he killed him...that's never going to go away.
Now he has four seconds. He'd better get to work.
Lifting Kakyoin is as effortless in stopped time as it is while it's flowing. He's even more careful than he needs to be, maybe, because he is supreme in this environment; there's no one who can stop or challenge him, no one who can tell him no. That's a Dio-ish thought, too, or at least could be, until he adamantly tempers it with, and that's why I have to rely on myself to do it, and uses the utmost of care as they wander through the corridors of the house.
In the end, he takes Kakyoin outside. The trip to the back porch takes a second and a half; the leap up onto the roof with Star Platinum's help takes another second on its own.
With the remaining time he has left, he carefully checks his grip and their angle, making absolutely sure the clock tower is well out of Kakyoin's line of sight, and nuzzling against his shoulder for the benefit of contact as —
[Kakyoin almost flinched at what was, from his perspective, a sudden touch to his shoulder. A faint silver and green flicker behind him was the only real indication he'd been startled at all, and Hierophant vanished as quickly as it had manifested.]
[He didn't feel the twinge of broken tripwires running through his nerves like an electric shock, and there was no sudden impact or blinding pain. Of course there wasn't, but some irrationally paranoid part of him had half-expected disaster.]
[But that was stupid. There was nowhere the two of them could ever be more safe and secure than with each other. Even if he couldn't come any closer than this to the edge of a world he barely understood, Kakyoin was confident it was never going to be used against him again.]
[...one, zero.]
[He opened his eyes and blinked, looking around as he tried to process having moved instantaneously. If he didn't already know how it worked, Kakyoin would almost have compared it to outright teleporting.]
...wow.
[Even knowing how it worked, seeing the effects firsthand were still a little disorienting.]
[Despite the seeming steadiness of his words, it's both obvious and apparent that there's a healthy measure of tension simmering beneath them, born of nervous uncertainty about how Kakyoin would take the timeskip.]
...You okay...? I've got you. I never once let go of you, I promise.
I know--I know that you wouldn't. [Kakyoin hugged him a little more securely, voice quiet but not shaken.]
I'm okay. It just surprised me a little, I can get used to that. [Which was entirely true; the trick was going to be in stamping out that stupid, irrational fear that Kakyoin was sure he hadn't seen the last of.] It's a little weird, but...kind of cool, moving so suddenly like that.
[He presses his face against Kakyoin's shoulder, muffling a yawn that ends in him lightly setting his teeth against the cloth and mouthing a bite there, for good measure.]
