[He hesitates for a moment-- but Kakyoin, for all he can be mean in his humor, for all they don't always get along, is actually a great person. And yeah, Polnareff gave him shit, but--]
I don't see how it ends up that way. im not exactly a strategist.
Ten years is a long time. Maybe something changed along the way. Even if it didn't, strategist or not, you're usually a good person to have around in a crisis.
[Seriously, though, that's a hell of a compliment, especially from Kakyoin. Polnareff stares at the watch for a moment, smiling-- and god, but he's missed him. He's missed this, their stupid back-and-forth, the teasing and the threats and the genuine affection beneath it all. He's missed Kakyoin, and yeah, it's only been a few days-- but at home, those days were going to stretch out into eternity. He'd never thought he'd get this back, and it's just--] I missed you.
[Obnoxious as he could get, it was a definite relief to have Polnareff back. The way things had been going in the past few months, all of them needed someone with the unique talent of breaking things up when they got a little too serious.]
Don't start getting sentimental all over me. I'm not going anywhere.
[...But hey, he did have an image to maintain sometimes.]
[Sigh. Honestly, he wasn't really sure where to start or how to summarize it.]
A lot of things happened. He didn't exactly expect to see me again, and by the time he got here I'd just about given up on the reverse myself. Then Giorno showed up and so did Holly a while later--we had to deal with fallout from that and work through a lot of things at the same time. Talk over a lot of things that happened, all the shit we'd gone through and try to find something closer to 'normal'.
[As he recalled one of several late-night conversations, Kakyoin realized...he'd told Jotaro about Death 13, but still doubted Polnareff would ever believe him. Maybe it wasn't right to be bitter when it was done and over with, but...no, maybe he'd try talking about it later.]
By the time I figured out what I was even feeling I guess that I was just
screw it, I was afraid. I've never had friends before, I didn't know if confessing would ruin everything or not, but I couldn't lose him again without making sure he knew beyond any doubt how important he is to me.
Don't laugh. If you laugh I'll come in there and beat the hell out of you.
[He's not, either. Oh, he might have if this had been something more mundane; if they'd been talking about their first kiss, or their fumbling towards one another-- but a confession like this? It's just as heartfelt as Jotaro's confession about Star Platinum, and Polnareff knows when to take things seriously.]
im glad for you two i mean i'm glad it worked out you two are good together i think

We match each other perfectly in and out of a fight. It's second nature by now.
